About Reflex
Reflex is a board review system for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents. It covers the ABPMR Part I content outline across written chapters, a question bank, spaced repetition flashcards, oral board practice cases, and a companion podcast episode for every topic, so the same material can be studied in whichever format fits the day.
Who makes it
Reflex is written and edited by Zachary Shumaker, MD, a physiatrist, and operated by Reflex PMR LLC, organized in North Carolina. It began as the study material he wanted for his own board preparation and did not find: one source that covered the blueprint completely, stayed current, and could be listened to on a commute as easily as read at a desk.
Reflex is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and it does not carry advertising or sponsored content.
How the material is written
Every clinical claim is written from published source material rather than from recall. Chapters are drafted against primary literature and standard references, reviewed for accuracy in several passes, and cited where a specific study, guideline, or figure is doing the work. Figures are either built for the chapter or drawn from openly licensed sources with attribution.
No review process catches everything across a library this size. When a reader reports an error and it holds up, the correction propagates to every surface that carried it: the chapter, the questions, the flashcards, and the audio. Verified audio corrections are published openly on the correction register rather than quietly patched, so anyone who studied the earlier version can see what changed.

How it is paid for
Access is a one-time purchase, either a one-year or a three-year pass. Nothing auto-renews, no card is kept on file, and new customers can request a full refund within fourteen days of a first purchase. A sample chapter, question set, and the full podcast catalog are free and require no account.
