PO-03: Surgical Principles and Post-Amputation Rehabilitation — Part 1 (Part 1 of 2)

A 31-year-old previously healthy man, 4 days post-right traumatic transtibial amputation, is transferred to the inpatient rehabilitation service with moderate residual limb pain and intermittent shooting pain in his missing foot. He expresses a desire to return to his construction job but questions the necessity of intensive rehabilitation, asking why he cannot simply use a wheelchair.
