58-year-old man, burning residual limb pain and phantom dysesthesia

A 58-year-old man presents to the outpatient clinic two weeks after receiving his definitive right transtibial prosthesis. He reports new burning pain over the proximal lateral aspect of his residual limb, along with burning dysesthesia referred to the phantom dorsum of his (absent) right foot, both worse with the prosthesis on.
